PhD openings with full scholarships on semiconductor optics at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (Jan 2024 intake)
Research Group Introduction: The research group mainly focuses on the interaction between light and matter in optical microcavities and its novel applications in nonlinear, topological, and quantum optical prototype devices. The group currently possesses a complete set of experimental equipment ranging from sample synthesis and fabrication to optical spectroscopy measurements. This includes electron beam evaporation, thermal evaporator, scanning electron microscopy + electron beam lithography, chemical vapor deposition, two-dimensional material transfer stage, glove box, wet chemical synthesis, UV-visible spectrophotometer, multiple sets of micro-area angle-resolved spectrometers, micro-area Raman spectrometer, Spectra Physics tunable femtosecond laser (oscillator + amplifier + parametric amplifier), tunable nanosecond laser, single-photon detector, superconducting magnet and so on. Additionally, the research group collaborates closely with experimental and theoretical groups from other countries or regions such as Australia, France, Italy and China, etc.
Supervisor Introduction: Prof. Su Rui is a Nanyang Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wuhan University in 2014 and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in early 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Nanyang Technological University. In recent years, he has published over 20 papers in international journals such as Nature Physics, Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Nano Letters.
